The only thing I don't like when I look at our wedding photos is the "yearly text" written acorss the front of the platform, in every shot taken at the Hall.

Tainted Love: Your JW wedding
by Julia Orwell inmine was actually great because my non-jw parents decided to pay for the reception, limo, cake, dress, honeymoon, and more.
i can thank my non-jw parents for what a totally fun day it was.. but, half or more of the guests were jws, jws who don't speak to me anymore.
some have even slandered and abused me.

Governing Body and Security
by NeverKnew ini was told that unlike christendom's pastors of mega-churches, members of the governing body don't require a security team and that you can just walk right up to them and talk to them.. is this true?.

There's no need for "unlettered and ordinary men" to have bodyguards.

Is there a pedophile epidemic ?
by Snoozy inafter reading another thread on pedophiles i was wondering if there is a pedophile epidemic or is it just that we now have more access to the information?
it seems like everywhere you read there are more and more cases being reported.
are we becoming a nation with no morals at all?

It's easy to make a blanket assumtion that the world is going to hell in a handbasket and Pedophilia is on the rise. Like earthquakes, Pedophilia has been happening since the beginning of time. Only now we have better means of tracking these things. Pedophilia been going on in the JW's organization forever. I know of a case that happened to a JW relative in the 50's but was kept quiet because nobody talked about those things back then. The lid has been blown off of most of the old Taboos and any topic is fair game today. The internet has given courage to those who in the past, thought the crime committed against them was an isolated incident and kept it to themselves. There was always an epidemic but no one talked about it.

Counteract jw.org August 2014 Campaign!
by jw07 inthere was a letter read at the last meeting indicating a push to advertise jw.org door to door in august 2014.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/273040/1/four-boe-letters#.uv8l4vldv1e.
many of those who the witnesses prey upon will no doubt search for additional information on the internet.. let us use the extra attention against the watchtower!.
- there are many of us on active on this site.. - most of the widley used search engines (google, yahoo, bing etc) show autocomplete results.. .

A couple of hundred or even thousands apostates trying to manipulate search results will be not more than a drop in a bucket.
See how easy it is ? Emeth googled JW.Org, found this site and became a full fledged card carrying member. It happens all the time.

What If JWs Banned Children From The Kingdom Hall So Pedophile Elders Could Be Free From Temptation?
by RottenRiley inhttp://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness/ts9ks2rn5t6oc2v88.
church bans children so pedophile pastor can preachposted in the jehovah's witness forum.
weird older thread on topix, one jw comments "at least they told their flock he's a pedo, jws keep those details hidden!

They'd more likely insist that little boys and girls dress less provatively at the meetings than run the risk of suggesting they have a pedophile problem in the Organization.

That photo was taken back in the day when the Governing Body members were not only modern day Prophets but were also Lumbergacks who harvested the trees at Watchtower farms to make the paper they used to record their prophetic utterances.

Don't let your job interfere with your meeting attendance
by Quarterback inrecently, a public speaker brought up this point that i remembered being preached in the 70's.
when they bring this matter up, they always manage to give you an experience of how one person stood his ground, and got a great job offer, as a result.. what about the many experiences of ones that were not blessed?
i can memtion horror stories of ones that should have kept working their meetings..

It's so interesting how they think so little of Jehovah's spirt and his ability to keep one spiritually strong if they miss the meeting now and then. Can't they read their Bible on their breaks and pray for strength while at work ? Nope....you goota be there at the meetings lest you find out you can have a relationship with God or think without them.

What Motivates Jehovah's Witnesses To Stay In The Religion?
by minimus ini believe it is mostly guilt.
many witnesses pioneer or "reach out" in the religion because they feel guilty.. they may feel they aren't doing enough.
they may have secretly "sinned" against rules imposed by the organization.

I figure as long as my prayers are being answered, I must be where Jehovah wants me to be---with the JW's.
Wow Watcher....how nice that Jehovah is making sure you have someone to ride around with for a few hours in a comfy car while children all over the world are just one bowl of rice away from utter starvation. We wouldn't want to see you suffer by having to work alone in service or with someone you don't really like. Maybe since Jehovah is manipulating others people's lives so you get what you want, you could try praying for something that will help other people and share the blessings.
If your "service buddy" was killed in a car accident on the way to the Kingdom Hall that day, would you have blamed it on Jehovah? Or maybe it would have been your fault. After all, you pretty much said it was his answer to your prayer that made her come to the metting for service in the first place.

Like a drug, it quiets the anxiety caused by life's unknowns (for a time) when they hand over their personal responsibility, to someone else who makes them feel taken care of, superior to others and who supplies a chalk board and pointer and who tells you what to do at every turn. By the time a tolerance builds up to this opium, their in it so far that their personal growth has been badly stunted and the withdrawls and rehab are too much for most folks to face.
